Day 49: 18.5 km from Santiago

I went to a wonderful Mass last night in another gorgeous church with a really nice Pilgrims blessing including getting Holy Water sprinkled on our heads! I went to eat with some of my Camino friends after and headed back to my Abergue before they lock the doors for the night.

I couldn’t remember exactly what it looked like or exactly where it was in the dark and wandered the streets for a while. The one I thought it was was locked up tight and had no lights. I pushed the doorbell but no response. By now I was feeling a little frantic and trying to think of plan 2. After again walking up and down 3 blocks to make sure I hadn’t missed it, I went into a restaurant on the other side of the street and told them my dilemma trying to explain into limited Spanish. The woman picked up the phone and after what seemed like an eternity she hung up and said someone would let me in.

Apparently someone had accidentally locked the door! Otherwise a good night!

Raining today so off I go!!

I am now 18.5 km from Santiago and will definitely be there tomorrow.

I treated myself to a private room tonight after walking in rain and mud all day, and to the best shower ever!! Another amazing day!!

The Brazillians and me.
I now have an invitation to Brazil!!

I stopped for lunch at a little cafe named Cafe de Delores and there were three men from Brazil there. One was the son of one of the men. When they found out my birthday is tomorrow, one of them gave me a little pin of the Brazilian flag!!

The music playing there was Celtic which I adore and the son pointed out to me a little display case that had hand made ocherinas for sale by a local musician/ artist. Of course I had to buy one along with the fingering chart and song book! I am thrilled!!! I can even play it a little. (He did not know I play Native American flute).

Today was a super day even with the rain!
I had a good nights sleep and had napped yesterday afternoon so I felt ready to go and walked 19.5 km with no problem.

I am going to try to get to Mass tonight in gratitude!
I can’t believe I am almost finished!!

These quotes were on an awning by the path.
Some were really good!

I will go to Finnesterre but probably by bus due to time limitations.

Tomorrow when I go to the Pilgrims Mass in the Cathedral in Santiago, I will be taking the prayers you have sent with me along with others I have added along the way to be deposited there.

I have lit candles sometimes along the way as well. I went to Vespers and Mass tonight in a very old church and the main altar is magnificent.
I took a picture but it really doesn’t do justice . Off to bed!!

That is a huge scallop shell.
